Zayn Malik’s Fake Omega Constellation Replica Watch Is Out Of This World

Fatherhood can wreak havoc on even the most sharply dressed men. But a new generation of stylish dads are demonstrating that shapeless chinos and fintech fleeces aren’t an inevitability (well, unless you’re still ironically channeling ‘dadcore’). The latest lodestar for those who refuse to give up just because they’re on nappy-changing duty? Zayn Malik, the former One Direction star who has just had a child with Gigi Hadid. His look is bang on point: dyed blond buzzcut, grail-worthy trainers, striking streetwear and – as a final flourish – a capital-W Watch.

White Dial Fake Omega Constellation Watch

We first took notice when he posted a still from his chill banger “Vibez” on Instragram, showing him looking down at a Swiss made fake Omega Constellation with the caption “Naughty watch”. Sure, he’s been paid to do so in his role as brand ambassador, but it really is a very naughty watch. For a start, it’s surely one of the most lairy and glamorous in the Omega line-up, a brand most famous for robust tool watches which can withstand the rigours of space travel and deep sea diving. Its “Sedna” rose gold case, creamy opaline silver dial, Roman numeral bezel and angular integrated bracelet gives it a retro-futuristic demeanour that looks striking on Malik’s tattooed wrist.

Rose gold has become something of a theme in his collection. In 2018, he showed us his Octo Finissimo Sandblasted Automatic by Bulgari, another watch that could have been a prop in a sci-fi movie from the 1970s. Those lovely angular lines on the bezel, case and integrated bracelet, plus the relatively wide 40mm case, which is only 5.15mm thick and houses Bulgari’s own automatic movement with 60-hour power reserve, make this a timepiece that Gérald Genta, the master who designed the original Octo, would surely have appreciated. The rose gold has been sandblasted for a matte finish, which dials down the innately razzle-dazzle opulence of the material, allowing it to come across as elegant rather than bling. Malik also has a rose-gold Royal Oak and Rolex Day-Date to round off what will surely become an increasingly influential collection if he keeps posting about it to his 38.3 million Instagram followers.

It all adds up to yet more evidence, if any were needed, that watches are now firmly part of popular culture.
